This Harvest, St Mary’s students have smashed all records by donating the largest collection of food and toiletries for Streetlife in memory! The chaplaincy team sent an appeal out to the whole school asking to collect food, toiletries and blankets for Streetlife, a homeless shelter in Blackpool. Streetlife support homeless young people aged 16-25 by providing emergency accommodation, warm clothing, food and other essentials in times of crisis.
The employees at the charity were thrilled to bits with the minibus loads of donations we dropped off at their base on Buchannan Street, which will go a long way to helping out homeless young adults this winter. Both the Chaplaincy Team and Streetlife were very impressed and thankful with the amazing efforts the students put into the appeal. Rachel who works at street life came in to visit our SVP club to talk about Street Life’s work, and said the charity were overwhelmed at the response from St Mary’s. A huge thank you to all who contributed, especially forms who brought up several bags and boxes full of donations!
