Sixth Form Wall Mural Pictures

ImageThis was a project undertaken by year 13 Art Students at a local children’s home offering respite for special children.  Mostly done in their own time the Art students [Natalie, Lorna, Emma, Kerry, Emily and Olivia] researched the needs of autistic children and then planned to use images and colours to stimulate and motivate them. By converting what was a disused office into a sensory room for the children to use this was an experience not to be missed. This was the first time most of the students had worked on such a huge painting, Each one having their own wall space and then linking each others work around the room was quite a challenge. As was painting and mixing colours of Emulsion and Acrylic paints that stain your clothes. However this was achieved most successfully and both St. Mary’s College  and the Children’s Home are very proud of their work. It was also lots of fun and seeing the children’s faces peering in through the windows as we painted their room was almost as good as seeing the room with all its cushions and lights sparkling at the official opening ceremony on Wednesday.  Please visit the Gallery for more images.
