GCSE PE OUTDOOR EDUCATION TRIP 2006

ImageOn the weekend of 24th-26th March, pupils from the Year 11 GCSE Physical Education group visited the High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre in North Yorkshire.   The purpose of the trip was to gain a Practical Assessment mark in an Outdoor Education activity.  Whilst at the centre the group took part in the theory and practical aspects of Orienteering.  Pupils were given the opportunity to put into practice their map and compass reading skills on the famous Ilkley Moor.  The group gained a lot from the experience and all pupils were able to gain an exceptional mark towards their final GCSE. A special mention should be given to Tom Wade, Kate Sloman and Harriet Fowler, who all gained 24/25 in Orienteering, which will go towards their GCSE in Physical Education.  May I also thank Miss. Porter and Miss. Hetherington for giving up their time, and Steven Townsend for compiling the sports quiz the group took part in on the Friday night (Mr. Rogers team were the winners!!!!!).  Check out the Gallery for more photos.
