Timetable for St. Mary's Admission Appeals

On the 1st March 2017, Blackpool & Lancashire Local Authorities will inform parents of the secondary school their child has been allocated to. Not all parents will necessarily receive their first choice of school. For September 2017, the full allocation of 210 student places has been made at St. Mary’s Catholic Academy. If your child has not been allocated a place at St. Mary’s and you would like to try to secure a place for them please follow the process in the attached document. We would strongly advise you not to reject the place at the school your child has been allocated until you hear the outcome of the Appeals process. Further information is available here.

Cycle To Syria

Moved by the continuous news footage of the destruction of Aleppo in Syria and the devastating impact this has had on the Syrian people, the Communications Learning House has decided this year to raise funds to support them. Always ready for a challenge, we decided we would walk, row and cycle the full 2690 miles that exist between Blackpool and Aleppo and ask our friends and families to sponsor us to do so. Every morning, our forms have taken it in turns to rise to the challenge in the gym whilst also adding in the miles we have covered on the way to school or participating in activities in the evenings and at weekends. We have been so successful, we decided we would not only cover the distance to Aleppo, but attempt to make our way back again! It has been possible to track our progress on the TV screens around school and we are grateful for the kind support of the PE department in allowing us to use the equipment every morning. We hope to raise a significant total by the end of term and we thank everyone who is helping us achieve our Cycle to Syria.

History Trip to Berlin

Berlin Trip students
18 students and 3 staff enjoyed a wonderful History trip to Berlin during February half term. They visited several sites of Nazi history such as the Berlin Olympic Stadium, Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and Wannsee Villa, where the fateful decision to instigate the Final Solution was made. They also experienced more recent Berlin history at the Wall and Checkpoint Charlie Museum, as well as enjoying the sights and culture of Berlin on a walking tour and at restaurants every night. The students were a credit to the school and it was such a success that the History Department hopes to make this an annual trip.
